Tom Waits

First of all, I rarely paint celebrities of well known musicians, however, because Tom Waits had a new album coming out and my husband is a big fan. I decided to do this informal expression of Tom for him. the biggest challenge was keeping it simple and capturing his unique gaze.

I attended the reception last night, Own An Original art exhibition, where I had to paintings juried in. It was really nice, really busy and great food. Rita Derjue was the judge and she had some wonderful, fun abstract pieces!

Waiting For My Buddy, 7 by 9 inch original oil painting. About a month ago, when we were in the middle of our glorious Indian Summer weather, I went downtown to take some photos to use as reference material. I walked by a coffee shop several times that morning and kept noticing the cute dog outside patiently waiting for his "buddy". Couldn't resist taking a picture and painting it as soon as I got home.
