I'm Here - Angel Painting by Judy Mackey

"I'm Here"
8 x 8 inches Oil on Raymar Board
Available - CLICK HERE

Another from my series on Angels.  this started as an angel holding an umbrella but I was not really happy with it.  So actually this is a re-do - repaint - fixed up - painting.  I still wanted the angel to hold an umbrella - maybe I got that idea from an insurance ad, nonethelsss,

I think angels do look out for us......so here is one holding out an umbrella to protect us from the storms.  I changed the postion of her arms and her body and changed the color to a more soothing softer shade using the same pallete as the painting I'd done earlier called Angel Thoughts.

The arm positoning was a suggestion from my painting buddy, Barbara whom I paint with nearly every week.  It's good having a painting buddy to paint and talk art with.  In a sense, she's my painting angel.  So if you haven't got one, do find someone to paint with.  It "makes" you paint - which is a good thing.

Hermosa Mujer Del Vestido Rojo~Warriner

Hermosa Mujer Del Vestido Rojo
18 by 24 oil on stretched canvas
this one was a fun change of pace for me working only with palette knife, and using cad red.  The Spanish dancer  was spotted at the Castle Rock parade last summer.  I was thrilled and immediately got out my camera to catch them in action.

Oh these wintery mornings, to be snuggled in bed with someone you love, hit the snooze button and savor the few remaining minutes under the warm covers....

All of the snow news of this past month had given me the idea of this painting and the song...
OK, can feet be a part of figurative - I think it is.  Pushing the envelope a little bit, I know.

I hope you like it.  It's available for purchase here and on my website, www.JudyMackey.com

This was a little study I did for a client that requested a commission.  Just a little add-on gift.  It was fun to paint.

I didn't really begin this painting to have the feel of watercolor, but as I was doing the preliminary, it felt good just the way it was, so I left it alone.  One of the hardest decisions of an artist (that is 'me') is to know when to stop.

Angel Thoughts, Palette Knife Painting by Judy Mackey

"Angel Thoughts"
10 x 10 inches, Oil on Raymar Board
Available for purchase.

I've been accepted into the Figurative Artists International blog!  My figurative paintings are sometimes fantasies as depicted by my angel series.  This particular painting started out with an Angel doing something else and I actually drew the arms up and outstretched but after staring at this piece for a while, I decided to tone down the colors, making it misty and keeping the angel a little closed and pensive.

Two of a Kind

Two of a Kind

This is my daughter and her friend and I was so grateful to have them dress up together in the summer (2010)  allowing me to photograph them at will.  I wanted to capture the brilliance of the sun on the girls and the grass and the intimacy of good friendship.

I began painting this from a photograph I found in a magazine.  As I painted it, these figures actually became my four children.  First one, then another and on and on.  I fell in love with it for that very reason and had to keep it as part of my 'favorite painting collection'.

Equine Thoroughbred Action Painting

Fight to the Finish

SOLD

This is an action packed painting that was painted just about as fast as these horses seem to be racing!  I really got into this one and felt exhuberant while painting.  I love to paint in oils as it seems to be painting with butter.  Evidently this captured a horse lover as it was sold pretty fast, alot like the movement!

City Beat In San Fransisco ~ Janice Warriner

City Beat In San Fransisco
available on my website at http://www.janicewarriner.com/
8 by 8 oil on canvas

This was done from a photo I took while In San Fran.  It was a great trip, busy streets, people bustling around, drinking coffee in outdoor cafe's and music on the corners, with the salty smell of the ocean in the breeze.
Please be sure to check out my new work arriving on Art Quiver, my absolute most favorite plein air painting sold last week, which I am thrilled about, of course!

http://www.artquiver.com/art/janice-warriner/young-girl-and-papillon  is a painting of my youngest daughter with one of our papillons.
