and shipping.

Give me a beach and a book and I am all set. How about you?

This painting is part of the CLUB 47 CHALLENGE. I will donate $4.70 for every painting or print sold between now and November 15th to the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women Program. Why did I choose this program? 37% of all female deaths in America occur from cardiovascular disease which includes coronary heart disease, and stroke.

As an additional challenge I will insert the color red into each new painting finished between now and then, starting with this one. Look for the red!

Giselle McMenamin - SO MANY ARTISTS/GALLERIES CAN MAKE USE OF THE ARTICLE BELOW

Many times I 've walked into a gallery, in NYC mind you, to be treated like I wasn't even there. Not a good sales approach for sure. Usually I'm scoping the location out to see what the reception is like and if I'd want to show my work there. Why bother putting time into a show if nobody is going to support your work with enthusiasm or general information?? Although Carolyn Henderson's article references a yarn shop the concept is relevant to any sales venue. Read below for a glimpse at the huge marketing faux pas of not being friendly or inviting.

The Importance of Being Earnestly Friendly

by Carolyn Henderson

You’re in a profession that demands social interaction, because people want to know more about your creations and their creator. Start with the smile. [...]

Angel with Cowboy Boots - Palette knife painting of angels by Judy Mackey

"You Wear It Well"
10" x  10", Oil on Board
Available for purchase
$300 s/h included

A while back I painted an angel with Cowboy boots on.  On that post someone commented that if she were to have an angel she'd have on pink boots because she is a breast cancer survivor.  With that in mind I painted several angels with pink boots.    This is the third of those angels.  These angels with cowboy boots just seem to have an attitude - I like angels with attitudes.  Angels should have attitudes, they look out for us, afterall....HA! if you read this far - are you tired of reading the same words except for the "third"

I think painting in a series is good especially when you hit upon a good idea - this one because of a comment on one of my angel with cowboy paintings.  So this is the third of a pink boot series.

The client of this painting gave me two instructions:  lots of
bright colors and blending and the rest was carte blanche.
Love that!  Although I had to tweek it, it resulted in a really
fun and whimsical piece (hence the name!).
 Happy client, happy artist!

Angel with Cowboy Boots - Palette knife painting of angels by Judy Mackey

"Wearing My Pink Boots"
10" x  10", Oil on Board
Available at Muse & Co Fine Art Gallery, Roswell, GA

A while back I painted an angel with Cowboy boots on.  On that post someone commented that if she were to have an angel she'd have on pink boots because she is a breast cancer survivor.  With that in mind I painted several angels with pink boots.    These angels with cowboy boots just seem to have an attitude - I like angels with attitudes.

I have this painting on display at the Muse & Co Fine Art Gallery in Roswell, GA.  They have a number of my angels on display there.  If you are in Atlanta, do try to get over to Roswell where there are a number of really nice art galleries clustered in their historic downtown.  I am so happy to be a part of that art scene.

Can you imagine the tete a tete these 'girls' are having with each other (and maybe the conversation about the few down the way?  This painting just flew by and that's a sign of total immersion into it - forgetting time and the world around.  It's such a peaceful place to be.
I have discovered a new color that I think I've mentioned previously called Davey's Gray by Grumbacher.  I love it!  This painting tells so many stories - whatever you want to perceive.

"The Met Lady" by Giselle McMenamin

"The Met Lady" 10x8" Oil on panel
GiselleMcMenamin
I'm a newbie here. Just signed up with CFAI. Looking forward to contributing to this blog and seeing everyone's work on here. Very inspirational. The above piece is one I painted this week of a lady resting on the railings leading up to the Met. Thought she was the epitome of the NYC dweller with the "get out of my face attitude" that you see there so often. Tough and rich. Loved her red shoes too, regardless of the attitude.

A Stylized, Figurative, Sultry Oil Painting

My Dreams

24 X 36 oil on canvas

Although this painting is very muted, I love the light and shadow contrasts. I have discovered a wonderful color, Grumbachers 'Davy's Gray' Of course, many may already know of this, it's new to me and I love the variations I can achieve with it. It's like a neutral color to me.
